GPR concrete scanning services, matched to the decision you have to make.

Every survey is specified against a site decision: where to cut, whether to certify, what to repair, and how much of it. Five services below cover the situations that come up most; two more (embedded utility detection and difficult-concrete surveys) are folded into whichever of the five they apply to on your element.

What concrete scanning is

Concrete scanning is non-destructive investigation of the inside of a reinforced concrete element, most commonly using ground penetrating radar. A pulse is transmitted into the concrete and the reflections from every change in material, reinforcement, ducts, conduits, voids and moisture fronts, are recorded and interpreted as a plan view image of what the element contains.

As built reinforcement moves. Ducts sag between supports. Conduits are added during service and never recorded. Ground penetrating radar answers the question the drawing cannot: what is actually in this element, at what depth, at this exact position, today.

GPR against a covermeter or rebar scanner

A covermeter responds to the electromagnetic induction of a single bar directly beneath it and gives cover and diameter estimates along a line. GPR transmits a pulse and records reflections from every dielectric contrast in the element, so it detects reinforcement, ducts, conduits, voids and delamination, and displays them as a plan view image. Covermeters cannot see non metallic targets or anything beneath the first layer of steel.

PT cable and tendon detection

The scan that prevents the expensive mistake. Post-tensioning ducts, tendon profiles, anchorage zones and main reinforcement located and marked on the live structure before coring, cutting or opening. For each proposed position we state the permissible core diameter and the depths of the reinforcement layers around it.

Marked on the element, same visit. Grid acquisition in two orthogonal directions, so every bar is confirmed twice.
